Grandma & Grandpa Hollister joined Zephyr and me on an exploratory hike up to the Red Hills. After our tremendous rains this winter we knew the area had the potential to be covered in wildflowers, but we were just a tad early on this hike. Still, it was still an amazing 75 degree mid-March day! The Don Pedro Overlook Trail starts near the end of the Old Don Pedro Road and follows a circuitous graveled trail nearly 2.5 miles to see the middle of Don Pedro. We were able to take Zephyr's BOB stroller the entire way since 5mi round trip is a bit too much for him at this point. Thanks to the huge storms earlier in the year most creeks were still flowing with a fair trickle of water, perfect for Zephyr to jump over. I suspect these areas will also be home to tremendous amount of wildflowers in about 10 more days.
