WIND TURBINE ENGINEERING PROJECT
The goal of this project is to create a functional model of a wind turbine using limited resources. Good grades will be given for all projects that are completed and well-documented. Awards will be given for most electricity produced.

Step # 2 - What are the rules?
- Turbines must be free-standing (They have to stand-up on their own. You can not hold them).
- Only the materials shown may be used.
- You’ll be able to also use scissors, hot glue guns and rulers to measure things. A drill will also be available to drill small holes.
- You will have THREE CLASS PERIODS TO BUILD THE MODELS.

- Or search "Home Wind Turbine" in a store website like Amazon, WalMart or Home Depot.

Draw a Blueprint and Get into Groups:

1. Get into a group of three. No more and no less unless class numbers don’t work out evenly.
2. Take a look at the supplies given to you in the photo at the top of this page. These are the *only* things you can use in your turbine. 3. Individually: Everyone in you group sketch a blue-print for your own turbine design. • Be sure to label parts. • Be sure to detail how you will make the design 4. Share your design with your group of three. Then choose design ideas that are good from each person to incorporate into a final design. 5.Get your blue-prints checked-off and get supplies to build tomorrow. |
